The Archuleta County Education Center provides the
following programs and services:
Adult Education
Basic skills tutoring
(reading and math) Literacy classes GED preparation
English As Second Language (ESL) Instruction Distance
learning programs START Program
Archuleta County High
School The alternative high school program is for
students in grades 9-12. Enrollment is limited and is by
application and review only.
After-School Enrichment and
Tutoring Students in grades K-8 are offered a
variety of enrichment activities such as art, foreign
language and cooking, just to name a few. Tutoring is also
available at the elementary school for grades K-4. Students in
grades 5-8 grade can take advantage of the
"Homework Center" located in the Jr. High library. Students
are provided with ready access to needed resource
materials and a computer lab for report writing and class
assignments.
Youth Job Opportunities
Junior High and
high school aged youth are offered paid employment as tutor at the
elementary school.
Community Education
Classes A wide range of enrichment and job-related
classes are offered to all community members. Offerings
iclude various First Aid and CPR courses, computer instruction
from beginning to advanced software applications, foreign
language courses and other general interest topics.
