Economic Development

The Education Center is committed to be actively engaged in the economic

development strategic initiatives of the Town, County and the Archuleta Economic

Development Association (AEDA), particularly from the perspective of workforce

development.   It is an active member and is represented on the Board of Directors of

the AEDA and is a long time member of the Pagosa Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Education center has made strategic commitments to building a learning

environment and resource that directly prepares individuals for work and those who

have jobs to become more productive.  It is strategically aligning with Southwest

Colorado Community College and other content providers to expand access via new

visual technologies.

It is a strategic partner in two different efforts to secure high definition video-

conferencing (teleconferencing) technology for The Education Center that would enable

Archuleta County to become a part of and access to a growing network of online and

virtual education and training content providers, both public and private. Such

technology would also be an attractive infrastructure asset for new and relocating

businesses and would allow the business community to virtually communicate with and

better compete in global markets.
